KUANTAN (15 Feb, 2008) – A bad crash involving sprinters Danilo Hondo and Alberto Loddo just 25metres to the finish line gifted Alexandre Usov of AG2R La Mondiale Stage Seven of the Le Tour de Langkawi 2008 from Kuala Rompin to Kuantan this morning.

The surprise win for the Belarus-born Usov was the result of a frantic sprint to the end in which Mauro Abel Richeze (CSF Group- Navigare) was penalized for causing the crash. Richeze received a CHF 60 fine, a 30-second time addition, a deduction of 30 points and was relegated to last spot on the stage. Continue Reading »

Le Tour de Langkawi 2008 – Stage 1 . Stage winner, Mathieu Sprick crossed the finishing line:

KUALA LUMPUR – Just when it started to look like an Alberto Loddo-Danilo Hondo showdown in the sun, French Pro Tour team Bouygues Telecom has upped the ante in Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2008 with the announcement of a team built around Swiss sprinter Aurelien Clerc.

The 27-year old Clerc has firmly established himself as a viable sprinter and classics rider with stage wins in the Tour of Picardy, Vuelta a Burgos, Clasica Alcobendas and the Circuit Franco-Belge.

He finished the 2007 season with second placed finishes in the Classic de l’Indre and Paris-Bourges, as well as a ninth place in the Paris-Tours. Continue Reading »
