Dan Lloyd breaks newground as the first English competitor to join forces with Sean Kelly’s continental team for 2008, allowing him to get his career back on track after the collapse of the Pedaltech-Cyclingnews team.

The fact that An Post has joined forces with the Kelly Team made it possible for Lloyd who is being touted as a possible for the Olympics in Beijing in August.

Initially Dan was scheduled to be team leader at Pedaltech but when the Union Cyliste Internationale pulled the plug on a licence, it had a domino effect with sponsors and support groups withdrawing.

Lloyd will not make his debut with the team who are scheduled to race next week in Argentina. But, he will begin his season at the GP La Marseillaise in early February.

Key objectives because of the An Post involvement will be the FBD Insurance Rás, the Tour of Ireland and the Tour of Britain. The team will be managed by Belgian Kurt Bogaerts, and includes Irish riders Páidi O’Brien, Isaac Speirs, Stephen Gallagher and Mark Cassidy.
