World Track Cycling 2008 – Taylor Phinney (17 yrs ) set new 3km Junior record (unofficial) 3m 17.55 ( 3.17.77) for 8th in World Pursuit

A quick note – I think Taylor has finished 8th against the big boys – his ride was against former double world champion Escobar – who was leading him until the last 1/2 kilometer apx (two laps) when Taylor found a lot more and accelerated.

Taylor set an unofficial world record at 3kms in 3m 17.52 (old rec 3m 17.77s).

Its is unofficial at the moment because it was set during a 4km ride.

It is up to the UCI to see whether it is granted to him. Also he has accumalated enough points with his 8th place to qualify for Beijing according to Connie.
