Victory and lead in the overall ranking for Armstrong

28 February, 2008 – The 34-year-old American Kristin Armstrong from Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team won the most difficult stage of the „Women’s Tour of New Zealand“ and took over the lead in the overall ranking with 21 seconds ahead of Oenone Wood (AUS, Team High Road). In an exciting and challenging competition over a distance of 125 km, six mountains and a final climb, Armstong showed a strong performance and finished the race on the top of the Admiral Hill 27 seconds ahead of Ruth Corset (AUS, Tabak Team International). Third place took Oenone Wood.

The fourth stage will follow tomorrow with the Miramar Circuit. The goal of the team Cervélo-Lifeforce around Kristin Armstrong will be to defend the lead on the 124 km (12 laps).
