Berlin Allrounder takes third top finish for MILRAM Youngsters within 72 hours

Dortmund, 04 February 2008. MILRAM’s Björn Schröder took second place in the sprint in the third day of the Intaka World’s View Challenge, giving his German ProTour team a further top finish in the South African race series.  The day’s win after 108 km with start and finish in Pietermaritzburg went to local rider Robert Hunter of the British Barloworld team.

It was the the third second-place finish within 72 hours for MILRAM’s „Young Lions“, which include all seven of the team’s newcomers.  On the first two days, the Ukrainian Andrey Grivko took the second places, before on Monday the 27 year-old Berliner Björn Schröder took another top placing under the direction of Directeur Sportif Jochen Hahn. So! Obviously the organisers of the stage races held at Easter time are beavering away at getting entries for their promotions.

Well! It can be widely assumed from the interest that the ‘Bertoni Gorey Three Day’ has been receiving in the last number of days, that they will not lack entries. It is a sure bet that they’ll be oversubscribed before the season starts at the end of the month! Last year’s winner Denis Dunworth from the Killorglin Cycling Club will not be defending as he has gone on to greater heights and is presently training in France where he will based for the coming season. SouthAustralia.com-AIS new recruit Travis Meyer yesterday won overall honours in the Trust House Classic in New Zealand with a dominant performance that included two stage wins.

The 18 year old West Australian also won the under-23 title, finished third in the sprint classification and led SouthAustralia.com-AIS to victory in the teams title.

Meyer finished the 580km event with a total race time of 14hr27min09sec. 1min51sec clear of second placed Robin Reid (NZL – Delmaine Foods) and more than five minutes faster than Australian David Pell (Savings & Loans). Continue Reading »
