World’s View Challenge 2008 – Andrey Grivko gives Team MILRAM the second podium place in two days

Team MILRAM youngsters with strong performance at the World’s View Challenge in South Africa

Dortmund, 03. February 2008. Team MILRAM’s young riders continued to prove their good early season form in the second race of the „Intaka Tech World’s View Challenge“ (02.-07. February / UCI 1.1). Led by the Ukrainian Andrey Grivko, the German ProTour team put its mark on the 127,4 km around Peitermaritzburg. The 24 year-old couldn’t follow the final attack by Italian Leonardo Betagnolli (Team Liquigas), only a few km before the finish line, and finished in second place as he did the day before. Third place went to the South African David George (MTN Cycling Team). Also in the top ten was MILRAM young pro Christian Kux, who finished the race as sixth.

„That was a great appearance by our young team, with good results,“ said Jochen Hahn, Team MILRAM’s Directeur Sportif. „We did well, desipite the 40° C temperatures, and had Andrey Grivko and Christian Kux in the escape group until the end. Of course it’s too bad that Andrey Grivko just missed the win for the second day in a row. But here in South Africa we are showing a a good team performance and everyone is woking well together, so I am very satisfied with that.“

Team MILRAM showed itself well-prepared on the first race on Saturday (Feb. 2). The Ukrainian Andrey Grivko again was in an escape group. He took second place in the final sprint after the day’s winner Manuel Quinziato (Liquigas) was able to break for the victory.

The third day’s race of the „Intaka Tech World’s View Challenge“ is on Monday (Feb. 4), on an 108 km round course with start and finish in Pietermaritzburg.
