Paul Griffin from Tralee is defending his title as last years’ winner of the Lacey Cup which sets out from the town better known as the host to the Rose of Tralee festival held every year in August.

Just back from Malaysia, Paul is certainly in good form. He was instrumental in helping his team Giant Asia cause reverberations in the peloton in the 12th edition of Le Tour de Langkawi.

Now back on familiar surroundings in the ‘Kingdom’ Paul should easily take the prize again in the Lacey Cup. He also the advantage of competition which is amajor plus for him over the opposition.

According to Cian Hogan of the promoting club, Earl of Desmond/Tralee Bicycle Club, ‘Paul is a lovely guy and to think last Sunday on our club run, he was at ease talking to cyclists who did not realise that this was the guy who injected belief in Irish Cycling on a world stage in Malaysia.
